Description
A pair of brass keys for logging railroads in the Midwest including a switch key stamped G&ERR in serif font for Greenbrier & Elk River Railroad. The reverse side of the hilt is stamped 47 S in serif. The key shows moderate tarnish on the back side, minor pocket wear, and strong lettering. The Greenbrier & Elk River Railroad began in 1901 and ran from Cass to Spruce under the ownership of the West Virginia Spruce Lumber Company, and eventually became the Greenbrier, Cheat and Elk Railroad. Also includes a key for Lake Shore & Eastern Railway stamped LS&E RY in serif. The key has strong lettering, showing minor pocket wear, but moderate tarnish at the bottom of the barrel and bit. The Lake Shore & Eastern was a logging railroad in North-Central Wisconsin. See photos for best description.
