After Nicholas Dimbleby (b.1946, British), a bronze study, Duke Ellington, maquette for Soho Square, measuring 50cm tall. Note - Nicholas Dimbleby is a notable sculptor based in London. Following study at Edinburgh College of Art, he became assistant to the notable abstract sculptor William Pye (b.1938, British). Following his time with Pye, he began to focus more on figurative sculpture and working in bronze. This maquette was done for a life sized sculpture of the famous Jazz musician, Duke Ellington (1899-1974, American), commissioned by Peter Boizot of Soho Square.
