Queen Anne Cherry Candlestand, Chapin School, Connecticut River Valley, c. 1770-90. Single-board top with undercut chamfered edges, the bottom screwed to single cleat tenoned to a slender tapering pillar with sharp ring-turned capitol and unusual stout urn above the base, which is in-cut at the bottom to conform with three blind-dovetailed cabriole legs on platformed and ridged snake feet, 50cm wide, 45cm deep, 71cm high (20in wide, 18in deep, 28 1/8in high).
