Elgin National Watch Co., Elgin, Illinois, an early 20th century "G.M. Wheeler" pocket watch, 12 size, 17 jewels, stem wind and set, adjusted, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, and Moseley micrometric regulator in a 14 karat, yellow gold, engine turned and beautifully engraved hunting case, arabic numeral O'Hara style multicolor enamel dial with Louis XIV style hands, serial #14057881, 70.5g TW
Condition
CASE: Case has housed another movement; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Localized case knife marks and fine scratches; Lacking front cover lift spring; Lacking crystal; Crown with wear; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Dirty, otherwise very good. HANDS: Tarnish. MOVEMENT PLATES: Numerous fine scratches on plate; Winding wheels with specks of oxide; Regulator assembly with oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), circa 1910
