Item Details
Description
German artilleryman's wehrstammbuch, a military service record book held at unit headquarters which also contains extensive service records, this example concerning Johann Wagner, born in 1909 and who served from at least Apr. 29, 1940 until July 4, 1944. On May 3, 1941 Wagner was transferred to North Africa where he spent two months in the defense of Benghazi only days after its recapture by Rommel. Following his service there, his record shows: 'Deployment in the homeland war zone'. There are five additional varied documents, including a 'Criminal Record Booklet' which reports that Wagner was suspended from service for ignoring '...the order of July 30, 1943 to have himself cleaned up after sexual intercourse outside of marriage...' Overall very good.
