Description
A nice grouping of several personal belongings of an American soldier of World War II, Alexander R. Mackay. Includes: his inscribed identification bracelet, bearing his name and number ‘32922525’; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal Ribbon Bar with five bronze battle stars, indicating Mackay was exceptionally active in the war; Marksmanship Badge with carbine and rifle qualifications; Enlisted Visor Cap Badge; Good Conduct Medal with ribbon; ‘Ruptured Duck’ pin; trench telescope; micrometer; U.S. Army collar discs; Marine Engineers Beneficial Association lapel pin; two Infantry collar devices; Boy Scout Duty Pin; 40+ Red Cross, church, etc. donation pins; eleven Japanese and French coins; dice; ‘jig-saw’ letter with original envelope; and a ring. Balanced collection, very good. Not much can be found on Mackay other than he was a part of the 29th Infantry Division, which took part in the Normandy landing, the Battle of St Lo, and the occupation of Germany.
