Stimmungsvolle Nachtlandschaft einer Stadt am Fluss mit spätromantischen Einflüssen.Der deutsche Maler Louis Douzette erhielt seine Ausbildung zunächst bei Hermann Eschke in Berlin, 1863 wurde er Mitglied des Vereins der Berliner Künstler. Stilbildend und -prägend war 1878 eine Reise nach Paris, wo Douzette von der Schule von Barbizon und der Plenairmalerei wesentliche Einflüsse erhielt. Douzette hatte Verbindungen zur Künstlerkolonie Ahrenshoop und eine Professur in Berlin an der Akademie. Stilistisch war er einem der Natur verbundenen Realismus zugetan, es zeigen sich ebenso entscheidende Einflüsse der Romantik im Sinne einer die Stimmung tragenden Naturerfahrung und -wahrnehmung. Douzettes Vorliebe waren Nachtbilder bei Mondschein, die ihm den Beinamen "Mondschein-Douzette" einbrachten.Oil on canvas. Signed and dated. Atmospheric night landscape of a town by the river by moonlight with late Romantic influences. - The German painter initially trained under Hermann Eschke in Berlin, becoming a member of the Verein der Berliner Künstler in 1863. A trip to Paris in 1878, where Douzette was greatly influenced by the Barbizon School and plenary painting, had a formative influence on his style. Douzette had connections to the Ahrenshoop artists' colony and a professorship at the academy in Berlin. Stylistically, he was fond of a realism associated with nature but there are also decisive influences of Romanticism in the sense of an experience and perception of nature that characterised the mood. Douzette's favored night pictures by moonlight which earned him the nickname "Moonlight Douzette".2500
