Vintage Studio art pottery ceramic chess set, circa 1970s, of unusual design, some pieces signed "P.F.B." Peter Fraser Beard (British, b. 1951), in fitted case. [Case: 5 1/2" H x 19 1/2" W x 13 3/4" D]. Pieces are 5" to 6" High.Collectors Dream only one set made.Overall Good Vintage Condition, NO Cracks, Chip or RepairsAbout Artist visit http://www.capriolus.nl/en/content/beard-peter-fraserDescription from Peter Beard regarding his ceramic production techniques.‘I make thrown and hand-built pieces in oxidized stoneware fired to 1280°C, using combinations of matt and semi-matt glazes and cultured clays, built up in layers prior to firing to create textural surfaces in a range of pastel shades and some stronger colors. Some surfaces are ground back to reveal the intricate patterns within the structure. Wax resist is used extensively to create patterns and to isolate the glaze layers during application.’
