Classical World, Greco-Roman Period, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. A set of 2 hand-built pottery heads, each once part of a larger female figure. The first head features huge, doting eyes bearing evidence of blue pigment, and the second, larger head features a stern feminine visage beneath a sizable beehive-style coiffure or headpiece. Size of largest: 1" L x 1.5" W x 2.75" H (2.5 cm x 3.8 cm x 7 cm); 4.625" H (11.7 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-Mr. David F. Hoff collection, Virginia, USA, acquired in the 1990s

Condition
Each is a fragment from a larger female figure as shown. Minor abrasions, softening to finer details, and fading to pigment where applicable, otherwise in nice condition. Good preservation to female faces. Please note that display stands are rather heavy for their size.
