Antique 19th Century Mens Metallic Embroidered Evening Waistcoat. This beautiful antique 19th century mens 7 button evening waistcoat features an ivory and gold metallic woven textured fabric front embellished with a hand embroidered gold metallic accents in a flower and vine motif. As well as 3 pockets (2 standard pockets, 1 ticket pocket), and tapered rounded collar. Due to the deterioration of the outer fabric you can see the white cotton base layer. The vest has a cotton canvas back and is lined in cotton flannel and has 2 ties at the back for tightening and 2 gussets at the back waist. Laying flat the measurements are as follows: chest 22.5'', length 24''. The waistcoat is in poor condition with overall deterioration of the front metallic fabric including yellowing, tears, and fraying. As well as overall shattering of the silk lining and metallic fabric at the collar, spots, and staining. The back of the collar is coming unsewn and separating from the body of the waistcoat. Besides the front fabric the waistcoat is in a solid state. This would make a great reference or educational piece. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
