Frontis portrait, viii, 419, [1, blank], [8, ads] pp. Original publisher's cloth. ************* First edition of this extremely scarce book which provides a fascinating view of early 19th century New Orleans. The author was a Yale graduate who pastored a church in New Orleans, beginning as a Presbyterian pastor in the 1820s. We trace only one other copy in Worldcat (BnF.) A second and a third edition followed in 1858 (from the same printer.) Sabin 13227

Condition

Spine chipped and with some traces of glue (appears spine panel was probably loose and was reglued to the spine), slight skew to spine. Contents mostly clean, frontis and title with foxing, the rest with only some occasional very minor foxing and a small number of leaves with minor stains from handling.
