Borlase, and some penciled notes on a front flyleaf signed “E.Q.” (Eric Quayle, author of The Collector’s Book of Books, etc.) There are no marks in this copy other than Joseph Mollierini’s statement which show the Sir Philip Sydenham provenance, but of course this set was rebound after Mollierini’s library was sold (at auction, by Samuel Paterson) in 1761.

Condition

The first volume expertly rebacked preserving the original spine, the others with hinges cracked but firm; edgewear and rubbing. Contents with some foxing a toning (moderate to first two volumes, lighter to last two volumes.) Plates in volume 4 shaved (as common) and some faded water-staining visible in places to 4th volume. Sold as-is.
