Description
Vivian Maier (American, 1926-2009) French Street Scenes (7 works), 1950 Gelatin silver prints, ferrotyped 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 inches (7.0 x 9.5 cm) (sheets) From the Ron Slattery collection The photographs here, taken on Vivian Maier's 1950 travels abroad, are her earliest known work. Already they show her dedication to her craft and her quickly growing confidence behind the camera. According to biographer Pamela Bannos, Maier was so insistent with her camera on this trip that some people in her family's French village thought she might be a spy.
