Item Details
Description
DAVID IKUTAAQ (1929-1984) QAMANI'TUAQ (BAKER LAKE)
Dancing Man, late 1970s
stone, 5.75 x 5.25 x 3.25 in (14.6 x 13.3 x 8.3 cm)
signed, "ᐃᑯᑕ".

Provenance
Collection of John and Joyce Price, Seattle.

David Ikutaaq is perhaps the most overlooked artist from Qamani’tuaq. Perhaps due to his untimely death at a relatively young age, Ikutaaq’s reputation was eclipsed by the career of his contemporary Barnabus Arnasungaaq. While Barnabus was indeed a great sculptor, we would argue that Ikutaaq was the more consistent of the two. This sculpture simply radiates with joy.
