Collected by a federal government administrator during his travels in the Eastern and Central Arctic;
by descent in the family.
These four charming animals exemplify the small ivory carvings that were commonly traded throughout Alaska and the Arctic during the early 20th century. Typically unsigned, these pieces do not reveal their creators' identities, yet they stand as a testament to the remarkable craftsmanship of Inuit hunters. The two bears originate from the Canadian Arctic, while the seal and walrus are likely Alaskan.
