Description
Studied law in Aix en Provence and became a lawyer in Draguignan. Imprisoned during the Terror, he was released and resumed his profession as a lawyer. From 1803, he devoted himself to poetry. He became a member of the legislature and was elected to the Académie française. After the fall of Napoleon, he devoted himself to historical and philological studies. Autograph letter signed "Raynouard to the rector of the Academy of Dijon G. Peignot, Paris, September 27, 1829, 1/2 p. in-4, autograph address and vignette of Perpetual Secretary of the French Academy. Beautiful piece, despite a slight scratch: "... la lecture de ceux de vos œuvres que vous avez bien voulu me donner quand j'ai passé par Dijon ...".
