Rare English Microscope by Thomas Cooke & Sons, c. 1860
Thomas Cooke & Sons, York. Polished brass, claw foot, concave single mirror, tilting stand, substage pinhole disc, 2 clamps on the stage, adjustment with 2 knurled screws, 2 eyepieces, 1 objective, with signature of the former owner on the base: "J. Close, Oct. 21st 1860", height 11 2/5 in., with live cell, reflected-light magnifier and stage tweezers in matching mahogany case.
