A rare and possibly unpublished 3 3/4" x 5" mounted albumen photograph labeled "Geronimo, Teachers and Pupils at school at Mt. Vernon Bks, Alabama." This remarkable photograph captures Geronimo indoors, alongside teachers and pupils, at the Mt. Vernon Barracks in Alabama circa 1887. During this time, Geronimo and approximately 400 Apache prisoners were held at the Barracks from 1887 to 1894. The photograph is believed to have been taken by Silas Orlando Trippe, who also captured other images of Geronimo and Apache individuals during their time at Mount Vernon.
