American Copper Architectural Element, from the Book-Cadillac Hotel, Detroit, Ca. 1920, H 22" W 21" | the Book-Cadillac Hotel's architect, "Louis Kamper, designed what would become the most extravagant hotel in the city -- and the tallest hotel in the world at the time -- the 33-story Book-Cadillac Hotel. Ground broke in 1923, and the landmark opened Dec. 8, 1924," according to HistoricDetroit.org. the element boasting a green weathered patina, with scrolling motifs in relief. Circa 1920. Provenance: Property from a prominent Detroit, MI private collector.
