Description
Meissen (German) Painted Porcelain Figurine, Emblematic of Wind, Ca. 19th C., H 5" W 4.5" Depth 3" | Depicting a child attempting to cage a bird adjacent to a bellows. with '66' and '10' incised to the underside with cobalt Meissen mark under glaze. Circa 19th century. Provenance: Property inherited by descent, Harrisville, Michigan.
Condition
When viewed under UV light, conservation efforts and inpainting were observed to the backside of the cage and tree trunk. The top-most bird has a chipped head and associated loss. The lower handle of the bellows is chipped and fractured. (One fractured piece is included.) The base has a firing crack that does not structurally impair the figurine. | Please note all lots show signs of wear commensurate with age and use, and the lack of a statement regarding condition does not imply the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from defects or the effects of aging.
