A. Gunn (British (Exhibited 1849-1871)) Oil on Board Ca. 1854, "Helping Grannie", H 14" W 18" | Depicting a boy threading a needle as his grandmother is at a table by a window. Signed and dated: "A. Gunn 1854". Verso having a 19th c. fragment of a label with the title "Helping Grannie" and "By Arch Gunn". According to Algernon Graves' Dictionary of Artists Who Have Exhibited Works in the Principal London Exhibitions for 1760-1893 (3rd ed.), A. Gunn exhibited 3 times at the Royal Academy, 4times at the British Institution, and 6 times at Suffolk Street. He is listed as a genre painter who lived in London. Provenance: Property from the collection of Peter Frantz (1921-2019), Bay City, MI. By family descent.
