North America, West Mexico, Jalisco, Tonala region, late 18th to early 19th century CE. A hand-built pottery bowl with stone-burnished surfaces decorated in white, black, and red pigments atop a light orange ground. The circular vessel features a radiating motif surrounding the wide mouth on top, and the planar base enables it to remain stable on its own. Intricate linear motifs decorate the exterior surfaces with tendrils, pyramids, and more. Size: 8.5" Diameter x 4.6" H (21.6 cm x 11.7 cm)

Repairs to a few areas, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Abrasions and nicks, with light fading to pigment, and minor earthen deposits mostly within basin. Nice preservation to decorative motifs across exterior surfaces.
