**Originally Listed At $300**
Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Yupik / Inuit culture, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A tightly woven / twined circular basketry panel trimmed with fluffy wolf fur and seal paws, with hide maskette faces and beading. This piece is somewhat similar to dance fans, but this is probably a purely decorative wall hanging, and purportedly sold at the 1962 World's Fair. The inclusion of the disembodied seal paws complete with claws is an interesting centerpiece that may have been highly unusual and a curiosity to those outside of Native Alaskan culture. Size: 14" L x 8" Diameter (35.6 cm x 20.3 cm)
Provenance: private Don Phelps collection, owner Todos Santos Trading Post, Alamo, California, USA, acquired from the Seattle World's Fair, 1962
