This is the only example of this watch we have ever seen. It was a presentation piece honoring the French General of the armed forces of France. General Joseph Joffre was born in 1852 and died in 1931. The cover reads, J. J. C. Joffre Generalissime Armees Francaises. He served as Commander-in-Chief of French forces on the Western Front from the start of World War I until the end of 1916. He is best known for regrouping the retreating allied armies to defeat the Germans at the strategically decisive First Battle of the Marne in September 1914.
This unique watch still has its original kiln fired enamel dial in flawless condition. We never see watches this old in this fine condition. It has just been serviced by our team and keeps dependable time and can actually be worn all the time and counted on to get you there on time. Imagine wearing this remarkable watch which is well over 100 years old and getting places on time. You would not drive a car that old. In fact there is nothing in our modern world that we use every day that is this old, unless perhaps it was a clock on the wall.
