This fantastic art deco clock was originally sold by one of the first jewelers in Los Angeles, S. Nordlinger. Nordlinger, a Swiss watchmaker set up shop in Los Angeles in 1869. His is considered one of the pioneer merchants in Los Angeles. His business grew and his sons took over eventually. He died in 1911 and in 1923 his sons merged the Nordlinger house with another famous Los Angeles Jeweler, Brock and Co. At one time Tiffany & Co. asked Brock to merge their two houses to become Tiffany-Brock & Co. Brock felt that his house was the stronger of the two, at least in Los Angles and passed on the opportunity. It is curious to wonder what might have bee if they had done such a thing.
circa 1900
The clock is double dialed and called a partners clock because it has a face and hands the same on both sides. It is American made and is in exceptional condition with a nickel finish and an ebonized base. It is done in the classic tradition of a sturup and perfect for an equestrian. The clock runs well and keeps dependable time. This clock is wonderful addition to a desk or elegant office.
