IRISH GEORGE II MAHOGANY OPEN ARMCHAIR
MID 18TH CENTURY
the shaped backrail centred by a double eagle head and acanthus with carved shells on the ears, above a pierced vasiform splat, over a stuffover concave seat covered in dark green velvet and flanked by serpentine arms ending with carved eagle's heads, on chamfered square legs joined by an H stretcher
70cm wide, 97cm high, 56cm deep
Provenance: Descended in the Cusack family of Abbeville, County Dublin, Ireland. Previously offered at Christies, London, Important English Furniture, 5th April 2001, Lot 253, The Property of The Late Robert Cusack-Jobson Esq.Thence by descent to the present owner.
