Description
Comprising a set of porcelain tea service all have printed mark for Copeland, each gilt-decorated on the cover, mouth, handle, and spout, including a tall coffee pot and cover, decorated wtih a ship on each side, and the name of each ship is marked on the bottom of the pot, reads 'ship Glory of the Leads, built 1869', and 'ship George of Salem, Built 1814', 8.7/8 in. (22.5 cm.) high, 8 in. (20.3 cm) wide; a teapot and cover, decorated with a ship on each side, and the name of each ship is marked on the bottom of the pot, reads 'ship Friendship of Salem, built 1797', and 'ship Recovery of Salem, built 1794', 5.1/2 in. (14 cm.) high, 9.1/4 in. (23.5 cm.) wide; a sugar bowl with cover, decorated with a ship on each side, and the name of each ship is marked on the bottom of the bowl, reads 'H.E.J.C. Thomas Coutts' and 'Brig built 1820', 4.3/4 in. (12 cm.) high, 6.1/8 in. (15.5 cm.) wide; a creamer, decorated with the same ship on each side, and the name of the ship is marked on the bottom of the creamer, reads 'Brig Eliza, 1865', 5.1/2 in. (14 cm.) high, 3.5/8 in. (14.6 cm.) wide; a soucer, decorated with a ship on the front, and the name of the ship is marked on the back side, reads 'Brig Cygnet of Salem, built 1822', 6.16/15 in. (17.6 cm.) diam.; together with a vintage Vista Alegre gilt-decorated reticulated porcelain basket corbeille, with green printed marks of 'VA Portugal' to the bottom, 3.16/7 in. (8.7 cm.) high, 4.3/4 in. (12 cm.) wide; and a vintage small sterling silver sugar tongs, 3.1/8 in. (8 cm.) long.
Condition
Tea service and the sugar tongs: good condition; the basket has several chips to the mouth and body, and a hairline across the lower body.
