Item Details
Description
One of the earliest truncheons that we have handled. Excellent condition with minimal paint loss. Painted with the initials WR IV (for William Rex) and N0. 7. The painting of Police Truncheons was in practice from Georgian times onward and by bearing the Royal Cipher it clearly showed that the Constable was acting under the authority of the crown. Painted truncheons like this are becoming exceedingly rare to find especially in good condition any paint wear is normal and represents years of good use by the "Bobby" who carried this great piece of history.
