Two kanduri shrine cloths, mid-20th century, Indian, Uttar Pradesh, appliqué cotton on cotton, on a hessian backing, each embroidered with figures, plants and elephants, larger 127 x 132 (2) Provenance: The Hildegard Heygate Textiles Collection. Condition Report: Both with dirt, holes and frays throughout. Generally stable but would benefit from cleaning and small repairs. The larger example with a noticeable tear to the middle. The smaller with a few patch repairs.
