Description
This hand-coloured engraving of Fumaria officinalis - Common Fumitory by Frederick P. Nodder is from Flora Rustica: Exhibiting Accurate Figures of such Plants as are either Useful or Injurious in Husbandry by Thomas Martyn. Published by FP Nodder, London 1792. Martyn (1735-1825) was a botanist and one of the earliest British exponents of Linneaus. Frederick Polydore Nodder (1770 ? 1801) was an English illustrator, engraver, painter, and publisher. Nodder illustrated and published George Shaw's periodicall The Naturalist's Miscellany and Thomas Martyn's Flora Rustica. This delicate hand-coloured botanical image has been engraved on handmade paper and is beautifully detailed. The accompanying text is also available. Size: 5in x 8.5in (13cm x 21.5cm)
