John Wallace Salter (NC, 1873-1950), Published Brant
Portsmouth Island, North Carolina, circa 1900s, carved and painted wood, published on page 370 of Gunnin' Birds by Kroghie Andresen.
Length 17.5 in.
Salter made a stand of brant decoys with rounded tails. Some of the heads were made from sewn lumber and others were made from inverted tree limbs. He utilized any material available to make working decoys.
Formerly in the collection of Ron Griffin.

Old gunning paint with moderate wear, working repairs to neck, age check on back.
