Pharoah "Farrow" Midgett (NC, 1848-1917), Published Dowitcher

Waves, North Carolina, before 1900, carved and painted wood, published on page 142 on Shorebird Decoys of North Carolina by Kroghie Andresen and Philip Harvey.
Length 9.5 in.
Midgett was born and raised in the small community of south Rodanthe, which would later be named Salvo. He market hunted the reefs out in the sound. None of his duck decoys survived. This dowitcher is in a feeding pose.
Former collection of Philip Harvey. He purchased it in 1983 from Vickie Midgett, Pharoah's granddaughter.
