Description

2 Antique Rose of Sharon Quilts. Red and green with quilt initials and the date 1856 in one corner, has trapunto or stuffed work buds and yellow flower centers. It measures 83x97". Hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and off white reverse. The workmanship in very nice! But the condition is poor with many of the turkey red flowers and buds deteriorating, and small spots. The other is possibly Colonial Revival or earlier. 65x86", machine pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. Medium loft cotton batting and off white reverse. In poor condition with overall toning, spots, several tears, the green has gone fugitive to brown. From a Wisconsin Collector. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
