1932 Historic "The Olive Branch Petition" to King George III Single-lot Rare 26-page Brochure Auction Sale Catalog
1932 Auction Catalog for a single-lot sale of "The Olive Branch Petition" written by the American Congress and offered to British King George III including a 26-page Brochure Reproduction of the Original 7-page Document, Extremely Fine.
In 1932, the American Art Association Anderson Galleries, Inc. offered at auction a Signed example of the "Olive Branch" Petition to King George III, written by the American Congress and offered to the English King in the hopes of avoiding war. This paperbound 26 page brochure is a rare survivor of this incredibly important, single-lot sale. The brochure measures about 11" x 8.25" and is damp-stained on outside last page cover. In the back of this catalog, the Petition is reproduced and shows the facsimile signatures of the Forty-Six Members of the Continental Congress who signed the document, with JEH Hancock the first and largest! Excellent overall condition, measuring about 11.5" x 8.5." Accompanied by a 2021-Dated 32 page brochure "To The Beat of Their Own Drums" showing the American Regimental Flags of the Revolutionary War. Rare, lacking in most all library and reference collections. (2 items)
