Description
Second quarter 19th century, oak with hide heads. Snare drum with paint featuring an American eagle clutching arrows and olive branches with twenty five stars around the circumference (probable reference for 1836 flag). Head of drum bears faintly inked "Jamaica, Vt." as well as names of "Metcalf Pierce", "Newton G. Pierce", and "John Hosley", born 1824, 1827 and 1814 respectively in Jamaica, Vermont.
