瑪瑙質，半透明，色澤黃潤清透。壺直口，豐肩，扁腹，橢圓形圈足。壺腹正面利 用瑪瑙天然色層，將棕黑色處琢為一隻喜鵲回眸棲息，身姿優雅。餘處通體光素， 打磨光滑細膩，展現瑪瑙天然繽紛色彩，秀麗雅致。全器意境悠遠，畫面彷彿欣賞 一幅自然天成之水墨作品，文人氣息濃厚。古人認為喜鵲是報喜之鳥，李時珍《本 草綱目》指出喜鵲：「靈能報喜，故謂之喜。」如能於早晨聽見牠們的叫聲，當天 便有喜事降臨，寓意美好。

瑪瑙鼻煙壺色彩繽紛，巧雕是利用瑪瑙質地的自然分層，巧妙安排並以高超技藝琢 製，又稱「巧作」或「俏色」，題材多見於人物、動物和鳥禽等。拍場相似之例可 見拍賣於紐約蘇富比 2010 年 9 月 14 日，編號 43，〈瑪瑙寶鴨鼻煙壺〉，與 本品皆取瑪瑙施以巧作禽鳥，形象生動逼真，匠心獨運。
