瑪瑙半透明質，水潤光潔，色澤柔和。壺直口，豐肩，扁圓 腹，橢圓形平底。施以蘇作技法，利用瑪瑙天然黑褐色層， 巧色浮雕金魚優游紋樣。壺腹正面兩隻金魚大眼圓睜，身軀 飽滿豐潤，長尾輕柔飄逸，四周水草悠悠蕩漾，相映成趣； 畫面延伸至背面，一隻金魚占據畫面中央，分岔的尾鰭舒展 優雅，四周大大小小氣泡升騰，畫面層次感豐富。

本件鼻煙壺以金魚為主題裝飾，諧音「金玉」，隱喻「金玉滿 堂」，除祝賀榮華富貴，並延伸出學識豐富之意，別具巧思。 同以瑪瑙為材，施以蘇作技法拍場相似之例可參見拍賣於北 京東正 2014 年 5 月 18 日，編號 836，清〈瑪瑙仙人采芝圖 鼻煙壺〉，與本品皆展現匠人別緻創意與精湛巧思。
