Description

A mid-Victorian silver-gilt presentation goblet, of tapered form with oval and teardrop bosses amongst scrolled engraving, surrounding applied 'Walton On Thames Regatta' badge and personal engraving. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb (John Newton Mappin & George Webb), London 1868. Height 18.3cm, weight 7.7ozt (240g).

Condition Report:
  • Item shows general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
  • Highest points of bosses show dark spots, damage and some bashes.
  • There is a asymmetric bash to the presentation engraving to the lower body.
  • Presentation engraving to lower body, other than 1868 date, is rubbed and difficult to read.
  • Rim is misshapen.
  • Silver gilt is dull, and would benefit from a clean and polish.
