Description
An early 20th century silver box, of serpentine shape and raised on cabriole style legs, the hinged lid decorated with frogs on lily pads and opening to two further frogs inside, hallmarked Saunders & Shepherd, Birmingham 1910, and with an Austro-Hungarian import mark, length 12.5cm. Together with a plain rectangular box with applied frog to the pull-off lid, hallmarked to lid only John Bull Ltd., Birmingham 1991, length 10cm. Total gross weight 12.19ozt (379.3g).
Condition Report:
- Modern box with lid only hallmarked; the rest appears unmarked but tests around 93% Ag.
- Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
