Description
Replica of an 1860's Chief or Leader shirt. The 120 hair ties represent one kill for each hair tie. Trade beads used are black, red whiteheart, white padre, blue melon, brass and small white beads made from bone. Beadwork on the shirt is traditional Sioux "Lazy Stitch" attaching 8 or 9 beads at a time. There are more than 2 1/2 lbs of beads used on the shirt and 400 ft. of thread. The pattern of crosses represents the Sioux symbol for War. Authentic black bear's claw and brass Officer's eagle buttons decorate the neck. Feathers used are Calico Macaw
