Globe Marin, a science teaching tool, c. 1894, created by Bishop of Pamiers France, Pierre-Eugene Rougerie (French, 1832-1907), on the outside a glass representation of earth with painted continents, at the north pole a brass ingress for the introduction of water, an inner globe that originally had arrows and other markings representing the natural ocean currents, a lower hand crank turns the inner globe allowing for understanding and study of those currents in relation to the continents, together with a copy, in French, of the 1894 operation manual for the Marin Globe, the upper half of the glass globe is intact with glue restorations, the inner globe is worn and lacks current markings, all rising on a cast iron base with the lettered name of the instrument, 23.5"h, 10"d, 25lbs **Provenance: The Richard Allen Garriott de Cayeux (Cambridge, England, b. 1961-) private collection, from Britannia Manor, his Austin, Texas home, a pioneer and entrepreneur of computer role-playing games, first American second generation space traveler, magician, world class collector of automatons, host of the Austin Shakespeare Festival at his Elizabethan style theatre, the Curtain, on the shores of Lake Austin, an Adventurer traveler form the jungles of Rwanda and the Amazon to meteorite expeditions in Antarctica, purchaser of the Luna 21 moon lander...still at that location, host of the theme parties including the End of the World party, board member of the XPrize and Space Adventurers, etc.** Start Price: $200.00
