Description
(1) 1909 Aeolian Baby Grande Piano which once stood in the "Deck" (family room) of the Bouvier's Hammersmith Farm. The childhood summer home of Jacqueline Bouvier it was later christened the "Summer White House" during President Kennedy's term of office 1961-1963. It was played during John and Jackie Kennedy's wedding reception, by Liberace on another occasion and other Hammersmith visitors throughout the years. The piano is accompanied by a letter signed by Hugh D. Auchincloss III which goes into some of the history of the instrument and Hammersmith Farm in general. Original tuner etchings dating back to 1959 are visible. (2) 8 x 10 inch color photographs of John F. Kennedy with his family in proximity to the piano accompanies this lot. Condition: The Piano maintains its original finish, showing frequent usage throughout the decades by this iconic family and famous friends. With a bit of reconditioning inside and out, keeping its history in mind, this Piano will sit proudly in ones home for generations to come.
