ENGLISH MINTON PARIAN PORCELAIN MONUMENTAL STATUE "LADY OF THE LAKE", AFTER FELIX MARTIN MILLER (1819-1908), the figure of the lady standing upright holding an oar in the head of a boat, after the Walter Scott poem of the same name. Stamped mark to reverse. Modeled after the marble original made in 1865. 1866-1870. 37" H.
Literature: Richard Dennis, "The Parian Phenomenon" illustrates the model, page 91, figure 147, noting, " Introduced c. 1866 but withdrawn shortly after. Probably because of its size, very few were made."

Condition
Good condition considering its unusual size. There are two firing cracks toward the bottom issuing at the lower edge, and a firing crack over the figure's right foot.
