Description
Italian School, 19th century in the manner of Tiepolo. Very finely rendered oil on canvas painting depicting an active Venetian Carnival festival street scene including numerous figures celebrating in masquerade masks and costumes outdoors in courtyard, including a group of figures standing and viewing the social spectacle from an elevated balcony, a figure presenting a speech with his back turned to us in a dark red coat, a couple dancing, and others in expressive and interesting activities. Indistinguishably signed lower right "S??? S??lentes". Framed 42 inches x 54.5 inches. Accompanied with a copy of French shipping receipt (Packers Camard, La Plaine-Saint Denis) with a carbon copy that the items came from Gérard Guignard in the Marché Serpette Antique Market in Paris, France. Also accompanied with copy of documentation of restoration history from Art Conservation, Drew D. Norbery, Atlanta, Georgia in September 1995.
