[Cartes-de-Visite/Misc.]. 19 CDVs, incl 15 portraits featuring children in various studio poses featuring props incl. a rowboat and swings, and girls and boys posing with toys incl. drum, Civil War Union hat, stuffed sheep toy, horse and dolls. 4 CDVs show twins incl. 3 sets of adult brothers and two young girls posing with their mother and father. 2 CDVs are hand-colored, all but one have maker’s backstamp. Maker’s marks include “GARDNER./511 7TH St./WASHINGTON.,” “Bogardus/363 BROADWAY, COR. FRANKLIN STREET, NEW YORK,” “S.H.R. SALMON,/PHOTOGRAPHER/Corner of CALVESTON Rd./EAST PUTNEY, S.W.,” “JACKSON & CO./PHOTOGRAPHERS ROYAL/PALMERSTON ROAD/SOUTH SEA/HANTS.” Good to very good, varying degrees of yellowing. Foxing (usually minor, sometimes more significant). 1 has a vertical crease mostly visible on backing. Sold with all faults.
