Description
This circa 1800, large size kitchen is crafted of wood with floor painted to simulate the stone tile of the period. Centered on the back wall is a faux brick painted wood stove with hood and 2 sets of rare skewer/ roasting spit racks. The shelving on the side walls display a vast array of early pewter, brass and wood accessories including a rare fish stew pan, egg rack, hot food carriers with leather cord, tankards, chargers and plates in various sizes. Among the tin ware pieces are a scarce handled and lidded bundt pan and a brazier. An early cloth dressed and carved wood crche lady with turned head presides over the well appointed kitchen. This impressive piece is pictured and discussed on pages 290-292 of Antique Dolls' Houses, Flora Gill Jacobs © 2005; There she contends that this example is even more remarkable than Nuremberg Kitchen I (pages 288-289 of afore mentioned book) which was sold in 2004 as part of The Washington Dolls' House & Toy Museum (lot 86).
