The serigraph in colors ‘Release’ is a signed work by the British artist Richard Hamilton (1922-2011), dating to the year 1972. The artist created it within a charity project of Release, a nonprofit organization for the support of drug victims. Fitting the theme release and aid for drug abusers, Hamilton chose as subject matter the rock star Mick Jagger and the art dealer Robert Fraser, who were driven to court because of the possession of drugs in a prison car on June 28 1967. Both are holding their hands clasp together in handcuffs in dread of a storm of paparazzi in front of their faces. In the typical collage-technique of the artist, there is collaged silver foil attached to the handcuffs and as accents on Fraser’s glasses.

The print was realized by the artist and Chris Prater, Kelpra Studio, London and published by Petersburg Press, London. It is the print number 94 from a limited edition of 150. The sheet is in good condition. It is trimmed on three sides. The right margin shows a vertical folding line. This area is a bit browned and there is a tiny superficial loss of material. Verso are remains of a surrounding paper mounting. The print itself displays a barely visible horizontal pressure mark in the upper area and a slight handling mark in the upper right corner. The dimensions of the sheet are 68.5 x 94.5 cm.
