Historical Staffordshire Mugs of American Interest 

English, 19th century. An assembled group of three pieces of transferware pottery, including a black transferware jar with historic military scenes titled The March, Whom Are You For, and Royal Standard, a Civil War mug depicting a soldier, and a mug with the lyrics of the song A Sailor's LIfe's the Life for me; jar ht. 5, dia. 6 in.  

Provenance: From the Estate of Kenneth Erwin, Portland, Michigan

Civil War mug has red paint on bottom reading Civil War Cup / About 1864 / English Pottery / C. Boger 42 / Chicago Antique Show. Jar missing lid and with hairline cracks to bottom, Sailor's mug has large crack to base, chips to rim and base. Glaze losses to Civil War cup.
