A pair of lavishly embroidered black satin lady's shoes, 1770s, with high pale pink taffeta covered heels edged in silver braid, the black satin uppers with silver strip and wire embroidered floral medallions with sequined and purl wire centres, one with cut-steel buckle, 22cm, 8 1/2in long (2)

Black satin has fragmented and is missing along upper heel area and lower front sole areas. In poor condition- black satin is badly split and disintegrating throughout, wear to cream satin on heels, metal threads tarnished, losses to spangles on upper, inner cores of same metal threads exposed.
