A beautiful Meissen porcelain floral cane

Item Details

Description

A beautiful Meissen porcelain floral cane. The tau handle is 1 1/3” high, 4” long, and 7/8” at its thickest. It is wonderfully hand-painted with flowers in shades of pink, purple, reds, orange, and yellow, with pale green foliage. Additionally it is adorned with gold highlights with the end-cap finished as a pink shell. It makes a fine presentation, typical of quality Meissen products. (Examples of this tau form are shown on several pages of Dike’s chapter on Meissen in La Canne Objet D’Art.) There is a 1/4” ringed collar on a tan fruitwood shaft that ends with a 1 1/2” bi-metal ferrule. The overall length is 34 3/4” and the condition is very good. It is ca 1850 and it is a lovely example on the kind. Estimate: $1000-$1500
